The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean is a great place to visit regardless of age. The area has so much to offer especially for outdoor enthusiasts with a range of outdoor activities on offer. There is the option to enjoy either by land or see from a gentle guided canoe paddle along the meandering River Wye giving a totally different view and perspective with around 100 navigable miles from Glasbury to Chepstow which if you want to complete in one go can take between 5-7 days to paddle great for groups looking for a challenge or opt to do different stretches over a period of time. The changing scenery and wildlife is varied and there is so much history and heritage. With Ross-on-Wye being the birth place of British tourism and was the start of the Wye Valley Tour which took around 2 days and finishing in Chepstow with an overnight stop in Monmouth. Takes a little longer to day by canoe.
The scenery along the Valley and River Wye changes through the seasons, the spring when everything is bursting into life, and the Autumn with changing colours and early morning trips can be mystical and magical with the mist rising from the river gives a totally different feel to the trip.
