We have many years of experience taking people kayaking in the Wye Valley and around the UK. Our qualified instructors will put you at ease and ensure that you all have a great day out on the River Wye.
Kayaking on the River Wye is the ideal way to view this stunning region including its cliffs, forests and landscape, and its wildlife. We offer half day and full day guided kayaking trips on a variety of sections of the River Wye, between Glasbury to the north and Chepstow to the south where the river joins the Severn.
Length of trip: A half day river trip takes approximately 3-4 hours and a full day trip takes around 6-8 hours including a stop for lunch. The timing depends on the flow of the river and the pace you paddle at.
Important information about your kayaking trip:
All of our kayaking trips include a safety briefing including how to control the boats, how to paddle and how to deal with any areas of white water. All of our trips are guided so you will have a qualified and experienced instructor with you at all times. We also provide all of the the kayaks, paddles, buoyancy aids and safety equipment for our kayaking trips.
All of our kayaks are single seater and are only for children over the age of 6. We have a variety of kayak sizes so we will need to know ages and sizes when booking please. The paddles have two blades and are dipped alternately on either side of the kayak. This can be more tiring than canoeing especially for younger children. About the Wye Valley:
The Wye Valley is an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB), full of history, beauty and heritage. It straddles the border between England and Wales and is one of the most dramatic and scenic landscape areas in southern Britain.
The River Wye (Welsh: Afon Gwy) is the fifth-longest river in the UK. The upper part of the river passes through the settlements of Rhayader, Builth Wells and Hay-on-Wye in Powys, but the area designated as an AONB covers a 45 mile stretch lower down the river, from just south of the city of Hereford to Chepstow. This area covers parts of the counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire, and is recognised in particular for its limestone gorge scenery and dense native woodlands, as well as its wildlife, archaeological and industrial remains. It is also historically important as one of the birthplaces of the modern tourism industry.
